The Power Within – What Is It? And Who Are you?

Hello Again Friends:

Last week, I started talking about how we can be a new and different person by the renewing of our minds. I used Romans 12: 1-2 as my reference point, I also promised that I would discuss about who you really are, the wonderful inner workings of your body, soul and spirit. You will gain massive understanding of who you really are and the marvelous things that you can do. You will learn the power that you have residing within you....seriously, and discover how to make God’s storehouse, which is the universe you live in cooperate, with you in all that you do and desire and thereby manifest great things in your life to the glory of God.

The series started last week, if you have not read last week’s posting I’ll urge and encourage you to read it here.

I’ve decided to write the lesson in several posts so that it will be easier for you to read, digest and understand. I do not want to prolong the lessons, so instead of every Monday, I’ll post these lessons on Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays so you can get the full lesson and gain understanding quicker. So without any further delay, let’s get into it.

Now to him who by the power at work within us is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, to him be glory… Eph 3:20-21
And the Lord God formed man of the DUST OF THE GROUND, and breathed into his nostrils the BREATH OF LIFE; and man became a LIVING SOUL” Genesis 2:7

The Power Within – What Is It? And Who Are you?

I am going to use an illustration first to do a breakdown of who you are, so please pay attention here. Once you discover who you really are, you will begin to change the way you look at yourself and other things. There is a saying that says “when you begin to change the way you look at things, then the things you look at will change”. Get ready, because you will change when you really know yourself the way you truly are.
In the beginning when God created man, the scripture says “And the Lord God formed man of the DUST OF THE GROUND, and breathed into his nostrils the BREATH OF LIFE; and man became a LIVING SOUL” Genesis 2:7

You are three beings in one. The dust of the ground which is the Body, what man became which is the Soul and the breath of life which is the Spirit (BSS). We will refer to them as BSS. I know this is not news to you, but please bear with me a little longer; we are in this journey together, so enjoy the ride.

Now, the BSS always experience the things of life together, at the same time, whether good or bad. One cannot experience one thing and the other experiences something else. They always experience the same thing at all times. Each one has a job to perform in order to experience a desire and their performances are always in sync with one another.

Let us see how each one now performs its duty. The B, which is for the Body is the one that interacts with the outside world through the physical senses such as touching, smelling, seeing, speaking, hearing and so forth. This is the one that enjoys the physical part of whatever the BSS has created and manifested.

The Body gathers information through what it sees and hears and passes it on to the middle S, which is the Soul (or conscious mind), that is YOU. The Soul’s job is to analyze, criticize, judge and accept or reject whatever information is passed on to it, (isn’t that what we do on a daily basis?). The Soul will accept and act upon an information from the Body if the Body continuously sends the same information over and over again to the Soul. The Soul will see that as an important issue, because of the repetition, and must be therefore treated with priority. Then after the Soul has accepted the information that it deemed important, he then passes that information to the third S, which is the Spirit.

Before I go any further, the Soul determines the importance of an event through the emotional reaction of the body to the event. Happy, sad, thankful, remorseful, it doesn’t matter. In other words, you determine the importance of any event in your life, but you do this based on how your body reacts emotionally to the event. Simple.

The Spirit is the one that have the power to breathe life into whatsoever has been determined important by both the Body and the Soul. Once the Spirit has received the instruction given to it, then it passes it on to God’s storehouse, which is the universe, where all things exist in abundance. Mind you, it makes no difference whether what is requested from God’s storehouse is good or bad, the storehouse has plenty of it. Understand this, to the BSS and the universe, nothing is good or bad, it is just whatever it is. They are simply following God’s own rules which cannot be broken. God is "I AM THAT I AM." He never boxed himself by definition. We attributed definitive names to him, Jehovah Adonai, El-Shaddai, Jehovah Nissi, etc., because that’s the way we see God. Each of the names we attributed to him limits God to that particular situation, but God is way more than anything we can describe him to be. Even El-Elyon is not enough to describe him and that’s why God himself said “I AM THAT I AM” He is incomprehensible and that’s exactly how he has made you. The psalmist said “You are fearfully and wonderfully made”

So far, we have described what you are made up of. A Body, a Soul and a Spirit. Now I’ll like to clarify something here, for the sake of understanding and those who would love to argue.

You are the Soul, NOT the spirit as we have been made to know.. The bible says “.......and man became a living SOUL”, not a living spirit. Another word for soul is “being” That’s why Jesus said he came to save souls; he didn’t say he came to save spirits. So, let’s get that understanding very well. It is crucial to understanding who you really are.

The Spirit is the Breath Of God, which is the breath of life. That is, what gives life to inanimate objects.

The breath of God is the Power of God which he gave man right after creating him. Why did God give man his power, because he has promised to make man in HIS image and HIS likeness. He called man co-creators with him. That breath of God which is a spirit that proceeds from God is the power of creation that gives life to all, which resides in you.

You, the soul, are a part of God, because of that spirit he puts in you. Everything that made God who he is, is in you. That spirit is one with God and as God is everything, so is that spirit and as God can do all things, so can the spirit through God. The spirit is the “Power of God Within”, interacting with the body and you, the soul. The body serves you by gathering information from the world outside, so you the soul can decide what is it that you desire to manifest, and therefore use the power within, the spirit, to create.

Every “failure” and every “success”, you are experiencing now, you have created and manifested. You are not wrong, you are not right, you just are. If at this point in life you don’t like your experiences, then it’s time to change them. Question now is how.

I would like to continue this in my next posting. I have said a lot here that need to be digested and understood. People will still ask questions that need to be answered, but I’ll continue on the next posting on Wednesday on how to change your situation, using the Power of God within you. It’s a lot easier than you think.

To God be the glory.

Your comments are very important, as I’ve always said, you never know who your comment will help, so share what God has put in your heart.

  5. You did a great job on this article, especially breaking down the BSS. After reading this post, no one can blame their misfortunes on others.

Now they know that they are the architecture of their lives. God has given us a free will and it is up to us what we do with it.

I certainly feel more empowered after reading this post, knowing that you have the power to change your live if you dont like what you currently experiencing is great.

I am already doing this in my life but am even more encouraged now to do much more.

Great post, time to grow-up people!

  6. @Buky:

Thanks for your comment. I am glad you understood the BSS concept. Once a person gets this, it's not hard anymore because we already have been empowered by God to do exploits in the first place. It's just a matter of us discovering, activating and using the power correctly. Your comments are encouraging and you are truly appreciated.
