Capacity For Truth - Do You Have It? Part II

Hello Friends:

Here we are again with the continuation of our last post, "Capacity For Truth". In the last post, we talked about why most people find it very difficult to succeed or get what they want. We talked about the reason for this and how people have the wrong expectation about God, their mentors, families and friends. How God never gives you what you want or desire, but what you need and that this NEED can and will propel you to get what you desire. If you have not read that post, please read it HERE. Now, when we talk about "Capacity For Truth", I'll like you to understand that there are 2 types of this God-given capacity to handle the truth. One is....

The capacity for telling the truth and the other is the capacity for receiving the truth. I will not go into details about either. The goal is to get us to recognize what caused us to lack one of those or both and how they'll continue to keep a person back from achieving unless they are mastered.

Now, mind you, both of those mentioned above are not difficult to master once we understand the fundamentals of why we should master them.

Why is it difficult for us to accept the truth when told or tell the truth when it should be told? As said before, there's a major cause that prevent us from accepting or telling the truth. A lack of the capacity to tell or receive the truth is born out of fear and the root cause of this fear is nothing but PRIDE.

SELF PRIDE.

What is Pride? Pride is simply a preoccupation with oneself. Pride comes when we put ourselves before and above everything else and not even realizing it, above GOD himself. This was exactly what happened to the devil himself. Remember, the scripture said "And pride entered into his heart" and he thought within himself that he is equal to God if not more than HIM and that was what caused his downfall. Pride blinds us to see all that is good.

All that is good comes when we take ourselves out of the way.

We become a stumbling block to all that is good when we are preoccupied with ourselves. Truth that sets free does not come to people that are preoccupied with themselves, because they simply cannot and will not see it. All that is in their little beady eyes are nothing but themselves; and when we are too busy, we tend to overlook things that matter.

Since pride, as defined above, is a preoccupation with oneself, then if I have this pride in me, what happens when you point me in the right direction by telling me the absolute truth is to reject it almost immediately, because I am totally preoccupied with ME, MYSELF and I. Thus when you say something of value that is not agreeing with ME, MYSELF and I, the first thing ME, MYSELF and I will do is, guess what, reject it, and we come up with all kind of excuses to not accept the truth. ME, MYSELF and I are not interested in putting you down or anything like that, but we just don't want to have anything to do with what does not agree with our own view of ourselves......PRIDE.

In the scripture, we are told that "God resists the proud...." why would HE not, the proud does not hear or see that which will help transform him into all he can be, so God chooses not to waste time with the proud. There are others that are willing to hear, see, receive and act. When the student is ready, the teacher will appear, that's why God spends more time with those that are not prideful.

I said in the last post that God does not give us what we want, but what we need.

I want you to recognize two hidden things in the scheme of things. One, what we want demand action of our own and not the action of God, we need strength to bring this about and that's why God gives us the strength to be able to do, so we can fulfill the desires of our hearts. Know this please, God is sovereign, true. God has his part to do and as humans, we have our part to do. God's Sovereignty does not mean we do not have responsibilities. So ACTION is demanded on our part.

Two, the NEED that God gives, to get what we want, is wrapped in "foolishness". It takes a person without pride to recognize this. God uses the foolish things of this world to comfound the so-called wise and the so-called wise are those who are too preoccupied with themselves to recognize that what they want or desire requires certain strength for them to carry it and that's why God chooses to give you strength. He knows that when you have the strength, you'll then be able to carry the weight of your desires. Your desires will not be able to kill you.

I will conclude this series in the final part where I'll discuss the major thing that is needed to conquer pride that prevents us from achieving. I will leave you with this. God is able, God is willing and God can. The question is, are we willing to follow HIS instructions and directions? Remember, the Holy Spirit is a gentle Spirit that bears witness with your spirit, but He never forces you to do anything. It is up to you.

I know there will be questions, so please feel free to ask them. Thanks and much love.
